Questions and comments from the MARCIVE meetings
| January 30th | February 5th |
-
Do other libraries want the requested weekly report of items with IPS of IP for cleanup following SLS loads? Yes: Morgan & CP No: Salisbury
- a non-depository institution is processing a federal documents title and finds no bib is in catalogusmai, what to do? Wait for MARCIVE load?
- XPT flag deferral – HSHSL interested – this would allow non profiled institutions to add XPT flag on SLS record and wait for full record loads to drive holdings up to OCLC
- Temp records with long lives—how resolved?
- Generating HOLs for remote resources in MARCIVE loads for non-profiled institutions—possible?
- What’s included in MARCIVE change records?
- When government documents become entirely e-resources, will we need to add bibs to catalogusmai?
- 3gov@itd.umd.edu maintained by Young Kim & usmai staff interested in MARCIVE questions should subscribe
- Speed up load of outstanding full mono loads? Followed immediately by load of changed records? (specs needed) If all outstanding monos were loaded, Cheryl could provide updates to 3gov as she completes each month’s load cleanup
- XPT deletes mechanism could be useful in MARCIVE load processing
- 3gov institutions need to coordinate with Cataloging Policy Committee
- Put docs from meeting on Web
|
- Non-depository libraries may overlay sls records as the 035 tmp number is protected
- Usmai institutions may submit federal documents URL correction or record resolution requests to tsd-help@umd.edu
- Load change records before loading full serial records
- Serial change records are in separate files from mono change records
- UMBC, UB, UMLL not interested in looking at a weekly report of items with IPS unchanged from IP
- We need list of what has been loaded previously from the MARCIVE Archive file; put on Web for all to see
