Because of Courtney’s absence, topic #4 was dropped from the agenda. A report from Sue was added.
- Announcements
A group of Engineering titles will be sent for deacidification beginning in October. UM Libraries staff are collaborating with the National Diet Library in reproducing children’s books from the Prange collection.
Yvonne reported on a mold outbreak and salvage at EPSL

- Society of American Archivist Association: Sue gave a brief report on a presentation from two preservationists about salvage of Iraqi artifacts.

Identified possible topics:
- What is the state of the art for digital preservation
- Prange project to scan and microfilm children’s books
- Use a speaker on the topic of digital access to maps as part of GIS Day
- What is going on elsewhere
Sue Koutsky called for identification or the goal for programming. A possible goal is increasing our own understanding of the current state of digital preservation, “ our own” being Preservation, ITD, Public Services, etc. A secondary goal is to serve others on campus with this programming.
- Next agenda: Continue to discuss talks on digital preservation with establishing our goal as the first topic.
