Preservation Committee Meeting Minutes

Outcomes

1. Announcements:Carignan introduced the new member to the Committee: Bob Giannelli, Bindery, End Processing Team Leader.


2. Using WorldCat as Preservation Tool: Van Sant distributed a quick reference guide of OCLC’s WorldCat Collection Analysis service and provided a demonstration to the group to explore the possibilities and usefulness as a preservation tool. This is a optional service for users of WorldCat on FirstSearch and enables libraries and library groups of any size to be able to generate collection analysis reports with results available within 24/72 hours after order has been received. The service allows to review gaps in the collection, and to compare the degree of overlap in our collection with other library collections.


3. Review “Numerical Data for Setting Preservation Project Priorities” based on Criteria: Committee members discussed the “Numerical Data for Setting Preservation Project Priorities” according to Use, Condition, Value and Donor Issues


4. Rate projects brought forward by Luckert, Sarigol and Van Sant: The remaining of the time the committee started discussions and rating of the preservation project brought forward

   • Continue reviewing and rating of preservation project priorities.
