Preservation Committee

Description

The committee serves as an advisory group to the Preservation Group and as an educational and information-sharing forum. The committee is envisioned also as a task force that will work collectively on preservation needs assessment, preservation planning, and preservation funding allocation. In this role, the Preservation Committee will identify collections preservation priorities. The committee also will assist in establishing uniform policies and procedures for cross-divisional preservation activities, in particular with Digital Collections and Research (DCR) and the Audiovisual Team. Finally, the Preservation Committee will serve as an advisory body not only to the Preservation Group, but to the Library Executive Council (LEC), reporting on preservation issues and recommending preservation policies for LEC’s approval.

The meeting agendas will be driven by the concerns of the members and by key issues identified by Preservation Committee members, Preservation Group faculty, Directors, or LEC. Meetings may begin with a brief educational or information sharing presentation on a preservation topic. Any tasks to be accomplished will be delegated to the members of the group or assigned to a smaller group within the committee.
