Checklist for new and resigning staff
This checklist identifies some basic things new staff members need in order to work successfully in the Technical Services Division. It also provides a list of things to do when one is resigning from the division.
For new staff:
- Supervisor will fill in and submit a Checklist for workstation access and other authorizations. [If using the downloadable form, email completed form to tsd-checklist@umd.edu, subject line TSD CHECKLIST.
- Supervisor will request in advance new equipment that may be needed by the staff.
- Request desk drawer key from the TSD Office.
- Request initial office supplies from the TSD Office.
- Schedule a brief orientation with the TSD Office Coordinator regarding procedures for various requests.
Note: Information about securing an I.D., parking permit, and other personnel-related matters are provided by the Libraries Personnel & Budget Office.
For resigning staff:
- Supervisor will fill in and submit a Checklist for workstation access and other authorizations. [If using the downloadable form, email completed form to tsd-checklist@umd.edu, subject line TSD CHECKLIST.
- Remove personal files from the work station; electronic files that may be stored in the computer, including any self-installed shareware; personal effects in the work area. Review individual LAN files (Z drive) and remove personal files, if any. Turn over to supervisor work-related paper or electronic files, if deemed useful for the work of the team/group.
- Return to TSD Office electronic gadgets (e.g. PDAs) purchased by the Libraries for use by the resigning staff.
- Turn over to supervisor books ordered for reference and were purchased using the Libraries funds.
- Return to TSD Office keys to desk, drawers, and TSD door, if any. Put keys in an envelope and indicate what each key is for.
Note: Staff ID card, parking permit, card keys, are to be returned to the Libraries Personnel & Budget Office.
