CRC TEAM CHARGE & DESCRIPTION

CHARGE

The Continuing Resources Coordinating Team (CRCT) identifies needs related to continuing resources in all formats which affect UM Libraries and resolves those needs through appropriate means. The Team coordinates the management of continuing resources in all formats throughout the libraries, involving stakeholders from Technical Services, Collection Management, ITD, and Public Services. The team serves as a resource for consultation and problem solving with respect to the management of continuing resources throughout the libraries and with respect to the various information technology tools and vendor services used by the libraries to manage continuing resources. Communicates with all units/divisions involved in processing of continuing resources and communicates with all other appropriate UM Libraries' divisions on policies and procedures for continuing resources. The work of the team will be undertaken by identifying potential continuing resource needs brought before the team by either members or guests, prioritizing those needs in terms of their scope and resources needed for resolution, identifying a task group who will take on the project, and providing oversight for the work of the task group(s). CRCT will make regular reports and communicate to PLCT.

LEADERSHIP

In the interest of continuity, the chair of CRCT will be the Head of Acquisitions. The Head of Acquisitions is already a standing member of the Planning and Leadership Coordinating Team for TSD (PLCT) and the Collection Management Team (CMT).

MEMBERSHIP

In addition to the chair, the core membership of the CRCT shall consist of 2 members each from these Divisions: Technical Services and Collection Management and 1 member each from these Divisions: ITD, Public Services. If membership from these divisions cannot strictly be found, membership should include at least one member each whose position entails at least one of the following responsibilities: licensing, collection management/selection, continuing or integrating resources cataloging, management of information systems, management of information technology relating to continuing resource management, and direct to patron service at a public service desk that provides access to continuing resources. PLCT can appoint additional members as necessary.

SELECTION

To select Team members, there will be a call for nominations from the Divisions for those with continuing resources expertise among the Libraries staff. In the absence of enough divisional nominations, PLCT and CRCT can also nominate staff members with relevant backgrounds. CRCT will recommend new members from those who are nominated.

TERM OF APPOINTMENT

The CRCT will decide on rotation of membership. Renewal of terms is acceptable.
