TSD Memo Series no. 3

Opening/Closing Procedures

OPENING -
Doors are open by 7:00am. The doors with magnetic locks unlock automatically at 6:45am.

Individuals responsible for opening: Primary: Pearl Coleman; Secondary: Frederick Meekins

  1. Upon arrival, unlock the doors leading to the Binding/End Processing Unit. (Be sure to push the rocker lever in the door which allows the door to stay unlocked.)
  2. Turn the lights on. Switch is in a box on the right hand side above the sink in the BEP area.
  3. Unlock the doors leading to Acquisitions Department.
  4. The staff responsible for opening will communicate with one another for anticipated absence.

CLOSING -
In general, doors are closed by 7:00pm, Mondays thru Thursdays and 6:00pm on Fridays. Exceptions are days declared for early closing. The doors with magnetic locks automatically lock at 5:00pm Monday to Friday. These doors remain locked on weekends and holidays.

Individuals responsible for closing: Primary: Lee Schroader and M. Kay Kearney; Secondary: Paul Bushmiller

  1. Around 6:00pm, check coffee pots in each department making sure they are off or unplugged. Location: Countertops by the 2 sinks (Acq and BEP).
  2. Check to ensure that all faucets are completely off.
  3. Check to ensure that windows are locked.
  4. Place the 2 trash containers near the middle door in the outside hallway. Do the same for the trash bin by the sink in the Acquisitions area.
  5. While in the hall, check to make sure that the doors leading to Acquisitions are locked. (Note: These doors are usually locked by Acquisitions staff by 5:00pm.)
  6. Turn off lights inside the division.
  7. Lock the doors leading to BEP.
  8. On the way out, in the hallway, check the TSD doors near the stairs to ensure they're locked.
  9. The staff responsible for closing will communicate with one another for anticipated absence.
