Summer Programs and University Libraries

SUMMER PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS:

Welcome! Partner with a librarian to arrange a successful library experience for your students.

To get you started, review the following information either in web or print format which provides an overview of the following:

  • UM's 8 Libraries
  • Library hours, location
  • Library Tour? Orientation?
  • Library Computers
  • Printing & Photocopying in the Libraries
  • Study Spaces
  • Laptops & Wireless Access
  • Lost & Found
  • Policies we need help enforcing

  • Will you want to arrange a tour or orientation?

Even though the Libraries *do not* provide walk-through tours of its buildings, services or collections, we *do welcome* your requests to schedule an orientation session, especially when students are conducting research for an assignment. Librarians want to collaborate with you to help students find reliable information, choose appropriate keywords and resources, and learn how to navigate the library's layout.

Summer program instructors will need to use this request form

    Will you be dropping by?

Yes, come by! Bringing small groups of students with you to the library works best. Should you want to bring a larger group (i.e. more than 10-15 students), please give us advance warning by calling 301-314-7224, to speak to the Coordinator of McKeldin Library Information & Reference Services. Our goal is to accommodate as many visitors as possible during the summer months. Be mindful that various campus and visiting summer groups are competing for limited library computer and staff resources.
