By learning as many details as possible from you, library instructors can provide your students with a customized session designed to help them find university-level information on their topics. Students tend to pay attention and readily apply what they've learned when a session is targeted to their needs:

I am requesting a library session because I want my students to learn ...

What is the assignment all about?
To help us properly prepare in advance, the library instructor will need a copy of the assignment (see sending instructions below). S/he will need to get a copy of it in order to learn what direction you are asking students to take and learn the kinds of sources are you asking students to find, (e.g., books, peer-reviewed journal articles, magazine articles, something else?):

How to send us a copy of the assignment:

By copying & pasting the assignment into the box above, or

By emailing the assignment to: libues@umd.edu, or

By faxing it to: 301-314-9828 c/o User Education Services, or

User Education Services, 2113 McKeldin Library

DATES:

What days can you come to the library? Since the schedules of library staff and instruction labs fill up quickly even in summer, we request that you list 3 potential dates you could visit:

Because our human resources are limited, we cannot accommodate requests for Saturday and/or Sunday sessions.

1st choice: e.g. Fri. June 26

2nd choice: e.g. Mon. June 29

3rd choice: e.g. Thu. June 30

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Is there any other information you would like to provide that would help us properly prepare for your session?

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT MY REQUEST?:

Your request will go to User Education Services. We will respond to the email address provided above. Be mindful that the following factors may impact how best we can accommodate you:
  • how soon we received your request;
  • the availability of an instruction lab;
  • the availability of a library instructor on the day & time you selected.
