About East Asia Collection

The East Asia Collection is a library of over 90,000 catalogued books, reference materials, and periodicals written in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. The holdings are strong in the humanities and social sciences and particularly emphasize the history and literature of East Asia. Over 800 periodical titles and more than 300 different yearbooks and annual reports are currently received. In addition, the collection also contains over 1,000 volumes of Western-language reference works.  Acquired primarily to support the university's teaching and research programs, these publications offer library users a wealth of materials unavailable elsewhere in the state of Maryland. The collection is under the care of a curator who is a specialist in the field of East Asian studies.
