Indexing includes English-language periodicals, yearbooks and museum bulletins; periodicals published in French, Italian, German, Spanish and Dutch; and information about reproductions of works of art appearing in these periodicals. The literature indexed in Art Index Retrospective dates from 1929-1984; the literature indexed in Art Abstracts dates from 1984 to the present. Academic Search Premier [Off-campus access] A multi-disciplinary journal index, providing abstracts and some online full-text articles. The literature indexed dates from approximately 1990 to the present. African American Newspapers: The 19th Century [Off-campus access] A database of full-text articles, editorials, essays and advertising. America: History and Life [Off-campus access] An index to journals, book reviews and dissertations published worldwide on the history and culture of the United States and Canada. The literature indexed dates from 1964 to the present. Arts and Humanities Citation Index [Off-campus access] An index to arts, humanities, social science and science journals. The literature indexed dates from 1996 to the present. Avery Index to Architectural Literature [Off-campus access] An index to periodical articles on architecture, archaeology, city planning, interior design, and historic preservation. The literature indexed dates from 1934 to the present. Bibliography of Asian Studies [Off-campus access] An index to Western-language articles and book chapters on subjects relating to all areas of Asia. The literature indexed dates from 1971-2001. Chicano Database [Off-campus access] An index to periodical articles on Latino culture including Mexican Americans, Puerto Rican Americans, Cuban Americans, and Central American immigrants. The literature indexed dates from the 1960s to the present. HAPI (Hispanic American Periodicals Online) [Off-campus access] An index to articles in humanities and social sciences journals published in Latin America and worldwide. Coverage includes Central and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean, the US-Mexico border region, and Hispanics in the US. Historical Abstracts [Off-campus access] An index to articles on the cultural, intellectual, and social history of the world from 1450 to the present, excluding the United States and Canada (see also America: History and Life). The literature indexed dates from 1973 to the present. International Index to Black Periodicals [Off-campus access] An index to scholarly and popular journals and newspapers from the United States, Africa, and the Caribbean. The literature indexed dates from 1998 to the present. International Medieval Bibliography A publication of the International Medieval Institute at the University of Leeds, indexing publications relevant to the study of medieval history, literature, and culture. The literature indexed dates from 1983 to 1994. Available at the McKeldin Library reference desk. Iter: Gateway to the Middle Ages and Renaissance [Off-campus access] An index to journals in Medieval and Renaissance studies. JSTOR [Off-campus access] Full-text journal articles from the late 1800s, up to but not including the most current five years. L'Annee Philologique An index to articles, books, and conference papers on aspects of ancient Greek and Roman civilization including literature and linguistics, history, philosophy, art, religion, music, and science, from the second millennium BCE to the early Middle Ages (ca. 500-800 CE). The literature indexed dates from 1959 to 2002. Lexis-Nexis Academic [Off-campus access] A multi-disciplinary index and full-text database. Particularly useful for finding art information in newspapers worldwide. The dates of the literature indexed vary by title. MLA (Modern Language Association) [Off-campus access] Index to journal articles on literature, language, linguistics and folklore. The literature indexed dates from 1963 to the present. Nineteenth Century: The Visual Arts and Architecture English-language materials on culture and society published between 1801 and 1900; available as a microfiche series (N6450.V55 1986) in the Art Library. An index is available on CD-ROM at the McKeldin Library reference desk. Periodicals Index Online [Off-campus access] An index to articles in humanities and social sciences periodicals. The literature indexed dates from 1665 to 1995, beginning with volume 1, number 1 of each title indexed. Useful for finding older articles and book reviews. Now includes some full-text articles. Project Muse [Off-campus access] Full-text journal articles in the arts and humanities and social sciences. Women's Studies International [Off-campus access] An index to the feminist press from 1972 to the present. Citations include abstracts from 1980, and some full-text from 1997. ARTstor [Off-campus access] A searchable database of digital images from all periods, cultures, and media including architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, and design. Provides tools for using the images for scholarship, teaching, and learning. Bridgeman Art Library [Off-campus access] A searchable archive of images drawn from public and private collections worldwide. Includes all subjects, styles, periods, and media. LC Prints and Photographs A searchable database of images from the Library of Congress collections. Vertical Files Ephemeral materials in the Art Library's collections (exhibition announcements, catalogs, etc.) filed alphabetically by name of institution or individual.
