This albumen print of the Russian House at the 1889 Exposition Universelle belongs to a portfolio containing 28 photographs of national houses and foreign buildings, including 17 of the Histoire de l'Habitation Humaine structures designed by Charles Garnier. In their style and imagery, the foreign pavilions represented popular conceptions of different cultures.
