This photograph from a viewbook depicts the rotunda of the Palace of Fine Arts at the Panama Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco in 1915.
This photo also offers a glimpse of the equestrian statue of Lafayette by Paul Wayland Bartlett and the mural paintings by Robert Reid inside the rotunda. This octagonal domed building, measuring 162 feet high and 116 feet in diameter, served as the central structure around which the arc-shaped palace was built.
