Problems with reserves
November 5th, 2009
We recently updated our course reserves system, which has caused some problems. The following is an announcement that went out to all faculty using reserves. Let us know if you have any questions.
The UM Libraries Course Reserves system was updated November 4, 2009. The issue with the random timeouts has been resolved. We sincerely apologize for the interruption of service and thank you for your patience. The upgrade was needed to resolve a persistent issue of PDFs not always opening correctly in Firefox and Safari.
However, during last week’s initial upgrade, those ELMS course spaces with a direct link to Course Reserves on their main course menu (on the green, lefthand side) had those links inadvertently removed. There are instructions in the following handout to manually add the link: http://www.lib.umd.edu/PUBSERV/RESERVE/traininghandout.pdf. You can also ask library staff at lib-askreserves@umd.edu or ELMS support staff at elms@umd.edu for help with the direct link.
In the meantime, students have access to Course Reserves through the “Course Tools” menu.
