Limiting Google
February 29th, 2012 by Mierka
Hi there MSPAL fans!
Today we return to a previous topic regarding the things you can do to keep your information private during Google’s impending shift.
In light of Google going from “don’t be evil” to “we’re going to track everything you search” tomorrow we have a few more helpful hints from the Washington Post and from Google itself.
Option 1. Limit Google’s tracking
Were you aware that aside from tracking you when you’re signed in, Google will now track any signed out searches on your computer? There’s a work around for this provided from Google. You will have to sign out of your account first. You can also “pause you web history” which supposedly limits tracking when you are signed in.

Option 2. Move your important or sensitive data ELSEWHERE
If you don’t want Google to be able to sort through your emails to find out where you were born, when you were born, and other sensitive data, transfer your data to your computer or to a different service. Then remove the information from your Google account. You can find out how to do this on the Google Takeout page.

Option 3. Close your Google account
The Washington Post ran an article on the 25th on how to delete part of or all of your Google account. You can check it out at:
