New interface for Classical Music Library
September 29th, 2009 by Steve
Classical Music Library, the streaming audio database available through Research Port, has received a facelift. Perceptive users will notice that the new interface now looks and behaves like Smithsonian Global Sound, African American Song, and Contemporary World Music, which are other audio databases published by Alexander Street Press. The new Classical Music Library contains all the content from the “old” version, but with a new look and some new functionality.
New features of the new interface that might be of interest include:
- The ability to search or browse for specific albums, rather than just tracks.
- The ability to limit results to complete works only, which is handy when you are looking for, say, a complete recording of an opera, rather than just an aria.
- New playlist functionality, including the ability to easily share your playlists with others at the University of Maryland, or even with anyone who subscribes to Classical Music Library.
- Faculty who wish to use Classical Music Library for course listening assignments no longer have to place a special request for a “course folder.” You can now simply create a playlist and share it with your students.
All other functionality and content should have migrated from the old interface, which means any user accounts, saved playlists, and course folders should still be available. Let us know if this is not the case.
