University of Maryland Libraries Receives Grant for Film Preservation

The University of Maryland Libraries received a grant from the National Film Preservation Foundation to preserve one of the oldest films in the University Archives, a 1948 football game between UM and South Carolina. A vendor will produce a new negative and projection print as well as a video access copy. DCR will create a digital access copy that will be accessible through the libraries’ catalog. This is expected to be completed in Summer 2008.
