University of Maryland

The symposium is being held at the University of Maryland, a suburban university of approximately 35,000 students, located in in College Park, eight miles from the Capitol building in Washington, DC. The university is comprised of eleven colleges and schools, and offers 111 undergraduate majors and 96 graduate programs. Symposium location

Symposium events will take place in the special events room on the sixth floor of McKeldin Library (#035 on the campus map). A floor plan of the library is available.


College Park Metro

The College Park Metro Station is located on River Road off Paint Branch Parkway, approximately 1 mile from campus. The Metro system runs from 5:00 - 2:00 AM on Fridays. The College Park Metro Station UM Shuttle leaves approximately every ten minutes or less from the UM Shuttle stop on the east side of the station. It will drop you off at Lot HH, across the street from the Adele Stamp Student Union (#163 on the campus map). McKeldin Library is less than a three minute walk from here. Driving to campus

From Baltimore and points north

Take I-95 South to Washington, D.C.'s Capital Beltway (I-495). Take Exit 27 and then follow signs to exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.

From Virginia and points south

Take I-95 North to Washington, D.C.'s Capital Beltway (I-495). Continue North on I-95 / I-495 toward Baltimore. Take exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.

From Virginia and points west

Take I-66 East or I-270 South to Washington, D.C.'s Capital Beltway (I-495). Go East on I-495 toward Baltimore / Silver Spring. Take exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.

From Annapolis and points east

Take U.S. 50 to Washington, D.C.'s Capital Beltway (I-495). Go North on I-95 / I-495 toward Baltimore. Take Exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.

From Washington, D.C. (northwest / southwest)

Take 16th St. North which becomes Georgia Ave. North at the Maryland / D.C. line. Go East on I-495 toward Baltimore. Take exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park). Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1. Turn right onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.

From Washington, D.C. (northeast / southeast)

Take Rhode Island Ave. (U.S. 1 North) which becomes Baltimore Ave. North at the Maryland/D.C. line. Proceed through the city of College Park. Turn left onto Campus Drive and proceed through Main Gate.

Parking

If you are staying within walking distance of campus, you may want to leave your car at the hotel and walk or take the hotel's shuttle bus (if provided).

There are also pay lots and garages throughout campus – please note that these are CASH ONLY. Rates are $2 per hour thereafter, up to an $10 per day maximum. The 285-space Union Lane Garage (pictured in green), next to the student union, is the closest to McKeldin Library (pictured in magenta) and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. You may also park at the Mowatt Lane Garage (pictured in blue), which has approximately 400 spaces set aside for visitor use and is open from 7 a.m. to midnight.
