Parking
If you are staying within walking distance of campus, you may want to leave your car at the
hotel and walk or take the hotel's shuttle bus (if provided).
There are also pay lots and garages throughout campus. The Union Lane Garage, next to the student
union, will be unavailable for the duration of the symposium, as it is reserved for a job fair. Instead,
we suggest that you park at the Mowatt Lane Garage (pictured in blue), the
university's newest parking structure, with approximately 300 spaces set aside for visitor use.
Rates are $2.00 for the first hour, and $1.00 per hour therafter, up to an $8.00 per day maximum,
and the facility is open from 7:00 a.m. to midnight on weekdays. Like all cashiered lots on campus,
Mowatt Lane Garage is a CASH-ONLY facility. Checks and/or credit cards are not accepted.
A campus map is available online.
All conference events will take place on campus, in McKeldin Library (#035
on the campus map). A
floor plan of the library is available
online.
From the College Park Metro Station UM Shuttle stop across from Adele Stamp
Student Union (#163 on the map). With Stamp Union on your right, begin walking to your left
and follow the path between Patterson and Jimenez Halls. Once you pass these buildings, you
will see McKeldin Mall, a large grassy area, ahead of you. McKeldin Library is at the head of
the Mall on your right.
Safety. Because the University is located in a busy suburban area near a major
city, use caution when walking on or to campus after dark. If possible, do not walk alone.
There are blue pillars located about campus with emergency phones, where campus police may
be dialed in case of emergency or for after-hours escort 301-405-3555 (x53555)
