In 1880, Thomas Edison opened the first electric incandescent lamp factory
in the U.S. in Menlo Park, N.J. The Edison Lamp Works produced more than
130,000 bulbs by the time the plant was moved to Harrison, N.J. on 1 Apr 1882.
