Friends of the Libraries Borrowers Program
Whether you are an independent researcher, the parent of a school-aged child, or just an inquisitive Terp, tap into the power of the University of Maryland's Library System.
Benefits Offered to Friends of the Libraries Borrowers
Basic borrowing and Interlibrary Loan privileges at the University Libraries are available to individual donors of $150 or more annually; nonprofit donors of $1,000 or more annually; and corporate donors of $1,500 or more annually. Individual donors of $200 or more annually may subscribe to select alumni-edition databases.

- Remote Access to Alumni Edition Databases (NEW)
This benefit is made possible through a partnership with EBSCO Information Services.
- Academic Search Alumni Edition. This database provides full text for nearly 1,500 publications as well as indexing and abstracting for over 8,100 publications. There is information in nearly every area of academic study. See List of titles included in the database.
- Business Source Alumni Edition. This database provides nearly 1,100 full text business magazines and journals.

To access these databases, Log In.
Students, faculty, staff, and other eligible individuals have access to free borrowing privileges through their University of Maryland affiliation.
Check to see if you qualify.
Membership in the UM Alumni Association includes basic borrowing privileges at the University Libraries.
For an additional annual contribution, members can gain remote access to select databases. Interlibrary Loan is not available through the Alumni Association.

To Apply in Person
Please call the External Relations Office at (301) 314-5674 to make an appointment. Cards are processed Monday – Friday between 9:00am – 4:00pm. Once processed,
cards are available for use immediately.
To Apply by Mail
If you apply by mail, you will receive your Card in 1-2 weeks. Follow instructions on the Enrollment Form [PDF].
