FALL 2000 VIDEO SERIES ON RACE & DIVERSITY AND DIVERSITY & THE ARTSIn support of the Campus' and The Libraries' commitment to an ongoing discussion of diversity issues, the Libraries' Nonprint Media Services, Diversity Committee, Staff Training & Development and The Nyumburu Cultural Center are sponsoring a Fall 2000 video series on Race & Diversity and Diversity & The Arts. You may have seen it advertised on FYI and in Outlook. The 34 part series has been running since October 26 and will run through December 8, 2000. It is part of the PBS Adult Learning Service Videos via Satellite for Educator Series. This diversity event is open to the campus community. Here are 2 URLs that describe the event...the first gives the complete series titles/times/locations...the second gives complete program descriptions: The videos in the series have been well done, thought provoking, mind expanding and have created a wonderful platform for discussion. They have also added depth and texture to what we call diversity. The series featured on Dec.1, is particularly pertinent to diversity and campus life as several of the programs are filmed in a university setting. All of the programs are certain to help us as we seek to understand issues that have been created by our increasingly diverse communities. Please let others know about this special series. We hope to make it an important part of our continuing dialogue on diversity here on the College Park campus! Thank you in advance for your support... |
