Request a Facilitator

Please click on the Request a Facilitator Form in order to request a facilitator for your team meetings.

Introduction

Is requesting a facilitator appropriate for your group?

Does your group need a facilitator? Start by reviewing the ways a facilitator can assist your group. If you decide you need a facilitator, fill out and submit the request form (see below). Note: Last minute requests are difficult to accommodate.

In a nutshell, a facilitator works with a group to manage how the discussion is proceeding, by coaching the process. A facilitator is not responsible for offering expert advice on the content of the discussion.

Generally speaking, a facilitator will:

  • Help plan for effective meetings that have collaborative & realistic outcomes;
  • Observe and promote meeting guidelines or ground rules;
  • Encourage group members to participate;
  • Allow members to communicate openly;
  • Keep the group focused and on track;
  • Help to clearly identify goals;
  • Ask questions to enhance the discussion;
  • Help a group manage change and expand understanding;
  • Support imagination, creativity and encourage possibilities;
  • Create a climate that encourages feedback.
  • ...and more!

Reasons a group might need a facilitator:

  • Your meetings are not as effective as they should be;
  • You need new ways of thinking innovatively;
  • You need help in planning for the future;
  • You have a problem to solve but no idea how to approach it;
  • You are experiencing gridlock on some issues and can't get past them;
  • You have some difficult group dynamics that need addressing.
