1. Student Worker Appreciation Day
Preparing for delivering candy bags to the students on Thursday, April 19:
- Johnnie will work on getting a count of the number of student workers from the supervisors. (There are @ 200.)
- Annie has made little cards for the students and Gail will pick-up snack-size candy bars. Johnnie has the bags. Louise, Gail, Annie, Somesh and Jim will meet tomorrow at 10:00 in McK 4102 to assemble them.
- Richard and Annie will deliver to McKeldin; Annie will deliver to Shady Grove; Somesh and Jim will deliver to Chemistry, EPSL, and Hornbake; and Gail and Louise will deliver to Art, Architecture, and PAL.
2. Expenses
Johnnie reviewed our recent spending for gifts and memorials ($114.90). We also contributed $70 to the Diversity Team's Town Hall event. Jim contributed $20 to the Goodwill fund.
3. Meeting being planned to meet with the new HR director
Johnnie will contact Phillipa about attending our meeting in June.
4. Officers
We are still in need of a chair of the group. Gail graciously agreed to serve. Richard volunteered to coordinate PR.
We discussed the need to develop an email message or a flyer with our updated officers and functions, to note who to contact in special times in the life of a staff member, and to suggestion that donations are always welcome. We decided to work on this after updating the website, aiming for May 1.
5. Community Help Day
Gail suggested coordinating a community help day or creating a clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities with an information session about this. Opportunities could be library-focused. To facilitate these, we could create a subcommittee on volunteerism. We decided to think about this and consider it in the future.
6. Future meetings
We scheduled additional meetings for October 11, November 8, and November 29.
