Email: infolit-team@umd.edu EventsLearning Outcomes AssessmentOctober 25, 2006; 1:00-2:00pm; 6137 McKeldin Library Assessing student learning outcomes is a critical focus of the Middle States reaccreditation process, which will culminate in an accreditation team visit to campus in March 2007. As part of the Middle States process, the University has undertaken a major effort to develop learning outcomes assessment plans for all instructional units (undergraduate and graduate). View the Libraries' assessment plan for our general education/first year program/gateway information literacy instruction. Kathy McAdams, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, will present on learning outcomes assessment, how it is being used on campus, and how it can be used in libraries. If you do library instruction, we strongly encourage you to attend this session. The Libraries, like the rest of campus, are moving toward a culture of assessment of which the Middle States process is only the beginning. Kathy will share with us the importance of learning outcomes assessment as well as practical tips for developing an assessment plan that will work for library instructional sessions. Registration not required. Contact Diane Harvey for more information. |
