Upcoming Vacancies
The nominating period for Library Assembly Officer and Committee positions is now open.
The Nominations, Elections, and Voting Procedures Committee of the Library Assembly is now calling for nominations for 21 positions, listed
below. Nominations will close at the Assembly meeting on April 24. To make a nomination, send a note to the NEVPC at lib-nominations@umd.edu
or contact any member of the committee. You are welcome to nominate yourself. Candidates are encouraged to write a statement of 100 words or
less to be included on the ballot. Statements will be due April 25.
We are looking for nominations for the following positions. All terms
begin in July.
- Vice Chair/Chair Elect (1 position, 3-year term, any member of the Assembly except GA representatives may run.)
- Secretary (1 position, 1-year term, any member of the Assembly may run.)
- Nominations, Elections, and Voting Procedures Committee (1 position, 3-year term, any member of the Assembly may run. )
- Appointment, Promotion and Permanent Status Committee (1 Librarian IV position, 2-year term, only Librarian IVs may run. 2 at-large positions, 2-year term, only library faculty with permanent status above the rank of Librarian II may run. )
- Committee on Committees (2 positions, 3-year terms, any member of the Assembly may run. )
- Faculty Merit Committee (2 positions, 2-year terms, only library faculty may run.)
- Faculty Annual Review Oversight Committee (1 position, 2-year term, only library faculty may run. )
- Staff Affairs Committee (2 exempt/non-exempt positions, 2-year terms, only exempt and non-exempt staff may run.
1 library faculty position, 2-year term, only library faculty may run. 1 graduate assistant position, 1-year term, only graduate assistants may run. )
- Library Faculty Research Fund Committee (2 positions, 2-year terms, only library faculty may run. )
- Exempt Staff Representative (1 position, 3-year term, only exempt staff may run.)
- Non-Exempt Staff Representative (5 positions, four 3-year terms and one 1-year term (filling Rauf Ahmad's seat), only non-exempt staff may run. The four candidates receiving the most votes will get the 3-year terms. )
