Desktop Driver's Ed
Developed by the Desktop Services Committee, this overview session is designed to help you learn almost everything you ever wanted to know about the tools needed to be a responsible computer user at the University of Maryland Libraries. Computer security measures and the role you play in maintaining your desktop machine will be included in this discussion. Participants will learn about the UM Libraries’ LAN infrastructure, and the relationship between the University’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the Libraries’ Information Technology Division (ITD). There will be a discussion of computer security, including definitions of viruses, worms, and Trojan horses. Participants will also gain an understanding of the University’s recently revised Policy on the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources. Registration for this workshop is limited to 22 staff members. To register, please use our online registration form or e-mail the lib-learning reflector (lib-learning@umd.edu). Please put "Desktop Driver's Ed" in the subject line of your e-mail. Sexual Harassment Prevention Program
This workshop is for Library staff who have not participated in the Sexual Harassment Prevention Program training on the UMD campus. This training is required for all staff, including student workers and Graduate Assistants. The workshop is offered several times a year, so please continue to visit the calendar for more information on upcoming sessions. In this session, you will learn to recognize and resolve sexual harassment, learn ways a victim of sexual harassment can document incidents of harassment, learn EEOC's definition of quid pro quo and hostile environment harassment, learn about employer liability in harassment cases, and learn about resolution procedures available at UM and the University's sexual harassment prevention policy. Registration for each session of this workshop is limited to 20 staff members. If you have any questions, please contact Jenny Kinniff (jkinniff@umd.edu).
