Social Networking using Facebook

This class will introduce the process for entering leave in the PHR Faculty Leave system. For each pay period, beginning on July 20, 2008 (PP03), each Faculty member will be filling out his/her electronic time sheets in the PHR system. Faculty will no longer be using monthly paper time sheets. This training will take you through the process and answer questions you may have.

RSS Explained, Contained and Adapted

RSS (which stands for: Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary or RDF Site Summary, depending upon the source) is a Web 2.0 technology that is gaining popularity within the Library community, and lets information come to you as your favorite websites are updated. If you've ever asked yourself the question "What is RSS and what can it do for me?" - this is the session for you! This program, designed for RSS novices, will help demystify the concept of RSS, and introduce several commonly-used RSS tools. At the end of the overview portion of the program, participants will be able to "stay and play" with the various RSS tools introduced during the session.

Sexual Harassment Prevention Program

This workshop is for Library staff who have not participated in the Sexual Harassment Prevention Program training on the UMD campus. This training is required for all staff, including student workers and Graduate Assistants. Updates or refresher classes for staff will be planned at least bi-annually or more frequently as dictated by changed law or policy. Please contact Jenny Kinniff (x4-2677, jkinniff@umd.edu) if you have any questions about your eligibility for this training./p>

In this session, you will learn how to recognize and resolve sexual harassment, learn ways a victim of sexual harassment can document incidents of harassment, learn EEOC's definition of quid pro quo and hostile environment harassment, learn about employer liability in harassment cases, and learn about resolution procedures available at UM and the University's sexual harassment prevention policy.

Registration for this program is generally limited to 20 staff members.
