University Travel System Training

This workshop is required for all employees who have Professional Development Funds (this includes Exempt and Non-Eexempt Staff, Faculty and Graduate Assistants). For more information about travel funds, see The UM Libraries Travel Policy .

In this hands-on session, participants will learn how to use the online travel reporting system (ELF) to create and submit Travel Approval Request forms (TAR) and Travel Expense Statement (TES). Increase your awareness of Deaf culture and your communication skills in this workshop designed to introduce you to sign language. Participants will learn and practice simple signs related to the library. The presenter will also offer tips and further resources for successful communication with the Deaf community. No previous experience necessary!

Students in this class will learn how to use the Libraries staff-only website. By the end of the class, students should be able to: locate the intranet and login to it; edit pages. Students will also develop an understanding of how calendar and news items work and be able to post such items according to the Libraries guidelines, and of how Group content is entered and where it appears on the site. .

Clearing the Fog on PRDs

Sexual Harassment Prevention Program

This workshop is for Library staff who have not participated in the Sexual Harassment Prevention Program training on the UMD campus. This training is required for all staff, including student workers and Graduate Assistants. Updates or refresher classes for staff will be planned at least bi-annually or more frequently as dictated by changed law or policy. Please contact Dawn Borgardt (x4-2677, dsb@umd.edu) if you have any questions about your eligibility for this training.

In this session, you will learn how to recognize and resolve sexual harassment, learn ways a victim of sexual harassment can document incidents of harassment, learn EEOC's definition of quid pro quo and hostile environment harassment, learn about employer liability in harassment cases, and learn about resolution procedures available at UM and the University's sexual harassment prevention policy.
