University of Maryland Libraries'
Graduate Assistant Orientation
Welcome!
University Maryland Libraries' Orientation Program:
The New Staff Orientation Program is designed to welcome and equip each new library staff member with information that will enhance their ability to perform assigned duties and responsibilities, and to ensure their success in the Library workplace. In keeping with the University’s Orientation policy, the Libraries’ New Staff Orientation is a required informal information-sharing program that serves as a critical tool for acclimating staff to the library as well as to the University community. It also provides each new employee the opportunity to get an overview of the Libraries’ philosophy of the learning organization, and its commitment to the principle of continuous improvement and life long learning. Therefore, it is the responsibility of each new library staff member to take advantage of this valuable tool and process.
Orientation Includes:
- Orientation to Payroll and Benefits
(Enrollment for employment with Lupe Fernandes)
- Orientation to assigned Division, Department, Unit, and Job
(To be completed by your immediate supervisor)
- Overview of the Libraries’ mission, services, policies and procedures, programs, performance review, professional development opportunities and plans
