Topic: Collaboration between EAST (University of Maryland) and the UW Worldwide (University of Washington)

Description: The University of Maryland EAST (East Asian Science and Technology) group is talking with the University of Washington, Seattle (UW) about a collaboration. The rationale for the partnership is that an existing program at UW, called UW Worldwide, offers a potentially complementary approach to moving forward with programs targeted towards the globalization of science education. The UW Worldwide includes a four-year program of undergraduate studies with one of those years used to study abroad at Sichuan University. The EAST group has been developing individual courses and modules focused on East-Asian science and culture. The idea under consideration is to coordinate various aspects of the two models together to develop more robust courses and study for students from collaborating institutions.
Outcome: Share information on the Libraries' initiatives that may support this partnership such as Prange activities and DRUM.
