Minutes of the Meeting - December 14, 2004

Present: K. Hahn, Lowry (facilitator), Ruschoff (scribe), D. Vikor (timekeeper), Williams, and Wilson

Topic: Organizational Culture and Diversity Assessment
Leader: Williams; Guests: Hanges, Baughman, Love, Sapanaro

Outcome: Hanges summarized the outcomes of the assessment survey conducted in spring 2004. He emphasized that the overall results are very positive and that the interventions that the Libraries have taken over the past four years seem to be effective. LEC requested some clarifications and additional data. Hanges agreed to forward the data as soon as possible. LEC decided to discuss next steps for sharing the report with staff at the next C-Team meeting in January.

Topic: Proposal for Graduate Assistants
Leader: Williams; Guest: Love

Outcome: LEC reviewed the proposal to expand the scope of experience for Library GAs. A few recommendations for some minor changes where made to the proposal. Williams and Love will revise the document and Lowry will present it to CLIS for further discussion. Love will organize meetings with Library GA supervisors to discuss the proposal and plans for a pilot run of the new scheme.

Topic: WEB Policy Proposed by WAC and Printer Policy Proposed by DSC
Leader: Wilson

Outcome:
Web Policy: LEC made a few editorial suggestions to the Web policy proposed by the Web Administration Committee (WAC). Wilson will check with WAC to be sure all elements that make up the “look and feel” are included in the list within the proposed policy.

Printer Policy: Wilson will ask the Desktop Services Committee (DSC) to revise the policy to allow some latitude in deciding whether it is appropriate to network printers in some work areas. Wilson will also find out whether a printer inventory exists.

Outcome: No announcements.

Topic: Agenda for LEC Meeting on January 4, 2005
Leader: Lowry
Outcome: Two topics were identified:

  • UM 150th Anniversary, (Guest, Anne Turkos)
  • Stacks Assessment Proposal (Guest, Tanner Wray)
Ruschoff will contact the guests to make sure they are available.
