Library Executive Council Minutes of the Meeting - October 5, 2004
Present: K. Hahn, Lowry, Ruschoff (facilitator), D. Vikor (scribe), Williams (timekeeper), and Wilson
Topic: Web Site Mission Task Force
Leader: Wilson; Guest: Dave Cooper
LEC reviewed the proposal from the Web Administration Committee (WAC) for the creation of a task force to create guiding principles for future website redesign. The next web redesign is planned for the summer of 2005.
Outcomes:
- The Libraries’ website needs to be attentive to access, education, and marketing, the latter being a promotional function and in keeping with university directions and goals with respect to campus web design.
- It is also important that our website be aimed both at facilitating low-end users and empowering high-end users.
- Rather than creating a separate task force right now, the WAC will draft a working mission statement for our website and submit to LEC for review.
- WAC’s work on this project will help inform that of the Strategic Planning Task Force and PR Team and vice versa. The latter will be working on an overall communications plan for the Libraries.
Topic: Pop-ups
- Approved Positions. Williams will check with Foster to determine if there is a need to sequence filling the previously approved positions. Announcement of the entire list of positions is forthcoming.
