New Librarians Network

The New Librarians Network is a professional network for new librarians at the University of Maryland. It is a way to focus on the needs of librarians at the beginning of their careers, as well as a means for new librarians to receive a more informal orientation to the library. The Network will focus on supporting librarians relatively new to the profession but it is open to anyone who could benefit from the activities of the group.

Goals

  • Welcome new librarians to the University of Maryland by providing informal orientations
  • Serve as a conduit to Library Faculty Assembly (LFA) and Staff Learning and Development Office regarding the professional development needs and concerns of new librarians
  • Provide a forum for the discussion of practical ideas and positive strategies for success
  • Afford opportunities for collaboration on research as well as provide a forum for receiving feedback on research in progress

To share ideas, suggestions or other concerns, please send an e-mail to Joanne Archer jarcher[@]umd.edu and Nedelina Tchangalova nedelina[@]umd.edu.
