BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT

In 2001, PASD released Working Paper #4: Planning and Administrative Services Division In A Team-Based Learning Organization (http://www.lib.umd.edu/PUB/working_paper_4.html). Within this paper, it was proposed that a Library Staff Education Coordinating Team (SECT) be formed to participate in the following activities:

• Communicate, coordinate, and support fulfillment of library staff's education and training needs, including the Learning Curriculum
• Identify in-house, campus, and external trainers for workshops
• Provide recommendations to assist in training requests from staff, departments, and divisions
• Identify staff needs for ongoing or special training
• Assess staff learning events (Learning Curriculum and other training activities)
• Publicize staff training events
