Staff Learning and Development Office and Co-Sponsored Activities

The Staff Learning and Development (SLD) Office provides educational programs and resources for all staff in the Libraries, under the umbrella of the Learning Curriculum. The Learning Curriculum is a comprehensive education program that supports individual and organizational development. The Staff Learning Office collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Organizational Development, the Personnel Programs Coordinator, and other individuals and groups in the Libraries and University. The “Learning Curriculum Team” consists of the SLD manager and GA, the Assistant Dean for Organizational Development and any other GAs or other individuals who might at a given time be assigned to Staff Learning and Development or Organizational Development.

Occasionally, other units within the Libraries offer to provide education or training that is open to all staff. When the planned activity is of general interest and will be open or advertised to all staff, it should be co-sponsored by the SLD Office. Benefits to the unit proposing the activities are the following:

Coordination
Scheduling and advertising your event with SLD will decrease the likelihood of over-scheduled or competing activities
Collaboration
We are happy to share ideas for formatting your handouts and/or PowerPoint presentations. Let us help you make sure that your workshop attendees have all of the information they need before, during and after the workshop.
Advertising
Your event will be mentioned in the monthly Learning InterSECTion, published on the Library Matters Blog on the first Friday of each month, and mentioned in the mid-month SECT posting to the same blog.
Your event will also be mentioned at SLD events and meetings including the monthly SECT meeting as well as at other SLD workshops.
Registration
SLD can process registration using our existing webform, via email and phone.
Confirmation emails are sent to all registrants wihtin 2 days of registration (email text can be customized to the needs of the specific workshop).
Reminder emails are sent 1-2 days prior to the scheduled workshop (this can also be customized).
Workshop presenters are kept 'in the loop' with regular updates as to registration numbers (arrangements for this can be customized based upon the needs of the presenting organization.
Evaluation
SLD will send out and colect Workshop End and Six-Month workshop evaluation surveys and provide the presenter(s) with survey results.

Co-sponsorship benefits the Libraries by continuing to add content to the Learning Curriculum based upon the needs of the Libraries. On-the-job-training and peer training offered to a specific group should continue to be separate from the Learning Curriculum and from the SLD Office.
