SECT Minutes, March 11, 2008

Topic: Adjustments to the Agenda and Approval of FebruaryMinutes

Outcomes: The agenda was finalized. Minutes were approved for posting on the SECT Website.


Topic: The Learning InterSECTion

Outcomes: Maggie Saponaro discussed the poll that SECT members were to take of their departments regarding use of the Library Matters Blog. From the poll, there was no definite conclusion. Another poll will be taken of all the staff. It was decided that weekly entries will start in April. Support will be needed from SECT members to help with the weekly posting. In addition to other items from the Learning InterSECTion excerpted for the LM Blog, monthly "Terp Tips" will also be included.


Topic: Update on Spring Semester LC Programs

Outcomes: Overview training on Office 2007 is being offered March 27, 2008. Maggie Saponaro asked for suggestions for training on Office 2007 - Microsoft Word 07, Excel or PowerPoint. Microsoft Word 07 will be offered first. It was stated that there may be a need for future training on Posters and Presentations.


Topic: Round Robin

Outcomes:

  • Denise – HTML training is needed for her group
  • Maggie – Learning Proposal will be discussed at the April 29 LEC Meeting
  • Diane – There are two new services - Electronic Reserves Task Force; The Government Documents Desk will be closed and information will be handled from downstairs
  • Maggie – Diane and Sue K. - Volunteered to assist with preparing the RFP for assessment of the Learning Curriculum, pending funding approval from LEC.
