Facilitator: Sue Baughman

Approval of March Team Minutes

Outcome: The minutes were approved. Jenny Kinniff will post.

Update on Spring/Summer 2006 Staff Learning Activities

Outcome: Sue B. shared a summary of Spring 2006 Staff Learning programs, including number of attendees. In Maggie Saponaro’s absence, Sue B. and Jenny Kinniff will manage enrollment and questions regarding upcoming programs. They will begin to advertise late spring programs next week.

  • On a related note, the Learning Curriculum team will meet next week to discuss summer programs. There will be 2 offerings of the Sexual Harassment Prevention program, since over 100 staff have not yet attended. E-mails will be sent to directors. The Presentation Skills program will also be offered in the summer. If SECT members have more ideas for programs, please share with the Learning Curriculum team.

Desktop Driver's Ed

Outcome: The Desktop Driver’s Ed program should follow a similar model to the Preservation program; the “experts” will be responsible for presenting material and Staff Learning & Development will offer support. The Desktop Services Committee would suggest when programs should be offered, and Staff Learning would schedule and advertise the sessions.

  • Sue K. will ask if it would be appropriate for the Desktop Driver’s Ed program to be offered at a TSD staff program. Jenny H. will ask if the DSC would be willing to present special sessions.
  • Sue B. and Jenny K. will begin advertising the upcoming Desktop Driver’s Ed programs in a couple of weeks. Jenny H. will help to write the advertising blurb.

Marketing Learning Curriculum Activities (Continued)

Outcome: Sue K. led a brainstorming session of specific strategies that might be used to market LC activities to library faculty:

  • Explore the possibility of broadening the Learning Curriculum to include other professional development activities, such as programs from off-campus speakers.
    • Offer classes relating to librarians’ subject specialties; since these classes would help librarians do their jobs better.
  • Peer training sessions were well-attended at first, but then interest dropped off.
  • Many of the strategies that were discussed at the last meeting would also apply to library faculty.

At the next meeting, Sue K. will lead the group in prioritizing these strategies using an impact/effort grid.

Round Robin

Johnnie: There are several orientation sessions coming up, for GAs, Faculty, Staff, and Administrative Aides.
