There were no changes to the agenda. The May 8 minutes were approved as distributed for posting on the SECT website. Denise Wright from the Budget Office was welcomed.

Update on Summer 2007 LC Programs

The Excel classes are doing well. A new program, Using Facebook to Reach Library Patrons, will be offered July 26th. Another new program, Effective Project Management, will also be offered July 31st. Desktop Driver Ed is being offered August 2, and First Aid and CPR Training will be available later in the summer.

Outcome Based Evaluation Program

The Evaluation Program is used to measure what skills are learned and applied by those attending the workshops. A logic model has been developed with assistance from Irma Dillon in Management Information Systems. It was suggested that in future meetings, the team decide what is a “good” response and if the goal was met.

Future Issues of The Learning InterSECTion

The latest issue came out on the first Friday in June. Additional issues on first Fridays each month will continue. There is a need to identify if staff will read it in the Library Matters blog.
Discussed:

  • Moving The Learning InterSECTion to the LM blog
  • Linking it to a PDF
  • Get ITD’s help to see how many persons are using the blog

It is recommended that the July issue will stay the same and in August, The Learning InterSECTion will start in the blog. In August and September, e-mails will be sent. The SECT team still needs quotes to include in the monthly issues. It was also suggested that Staff Training identify tasks (63 Things to Do). Provide a check-off for persons when a task is completed.

Year-end Review

The team worked to identify what worked well and needed improving:
