SECT Minutes, July 10, 2007

Adjustment to the Agenda and Approval of June Minutes

Outcome: No changes to the agenda; June minutes approved.


Summer Program Update

Outcome: The First Aid class needs more enrollment. Two classes are full, with waitlists, and the Social Networking class is almost full. It was suggested that the archive of the recent library publishing webinar be linked to the web page of the Faculty Research committee. GAs are being surveyed about their computer training needs and fall classes will be arranged.


Learning InterSECTion Quotes

Outcome: Two quotes were offered, more are needed.


SECT Workplan

Outcome: Using the ILT and IRS-T plans as examples, and with the team mission and strategic plan as background, the team brainstormed work plan ideas. Maggie S. and Diane will compile the ideas and send them out as a separate document. The team will work more on the workplan at their September meeting.


Round Robin

Outcome: Team members shared what they had done for SECT since the last team meeting, and what they’ve heard that will be useful to SECT.

  • Sue B.: attended library writing webinar; looking at Web 2.0 skills
  • Bob: presented the new staff training statistics form at two staff meetings
  • Denise: contributed a learning quote; provide benchmark information for Jenny K.
  • Johnnie: brought information to SECT about staff training needs
  • Jenny K.: presented at all-staff meetings; looking at the “23 things” for tech skills
  • Liz: wrote a LM blog entry on the staff training statistics form
  • Christine: was the substitute notetaker at the last SECT meeting; investigating training needs for MS Office
  • Sue K.: investigating digital and scanning training needs
  • Diane: reported on new Lexis-Nexis interface and training opportunities
  • Maggie: will send the program update in electronic form to SECT members, for ease of redistribution


September SECT Meeting

The next SECT meeting is scheduled for September 11th, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm in 7171 MCK Meeting roles are as follows: Facilitator: Diane; Timekeeper: Amrita; Notetaker: Bob
