Ground Rules for SECT

Outcomes

Members continued the discussion about ground rules for the Team. In addition to the two rules identified at the July meeting, a list of others was identified. The full draft list organized by category is at the end of the minutes. It was suggested that the Libraries’ Meeting Guidelines be added to Libraries’ webpage. Sue B. will investigate placement of the guidelines on the Organizational Development site. Ambika will check with Rebecca Wilson about the updating the Meeting Guidelines posters and creating new ones for the meeting rooms. [Update: Rebecca will be able to tackle this project in September.]

Round Robin

Outcomes

Members shared the following information with colleagues.

  • Jenny stated that the call for instructors for Library Safari will probably be sent out during the first week of September.
  • Johnnie distributed a draft copy of the Core Competencies for Student Assistants Working in the University of Maryland Libraries. Johnnie would like any additional comments sent to her by Wednesday, August 10th. The list of competencies will be shared with supervisors once the document is complete. Johnnie is including a copy of the Learning Curriculum Checklist in the orientation package for new staff and faculty.
  • Joyce is compiling a list of travel and training activities that ITD staff have participated in for FY05. She will add attendance at Learning Curriculum offerings to this list once it becomes available. Jennifer will let Joyce know when the information is available.
  • Jennifer has updated the role rotation for the rest of the year.

The list includes some new programs such as the Preserving Library Collections and the mini-sessions for new GA’s, faculty and staff. An additional unadvertised HTML 101 class will be held on September 15th for staff. Team members were asked to share this flyer with staff in their departments.
  • Ambika is developing a new program on Netscape Mail, which will be offered in early November. Please send any ideas, questions or pet peeves about email to Ambika. It was suggested that Ambika talk with Deb Mateik (OIT) about this program to ensure that correct and full information is being shared in the training.
  • Jane shared kudos (a high five) for Jennifer for her work on revamping the Learning Curriculum attendance database, which is in Access. The database will be more user friendly for Staff Learning to create reports about attendance. These reports will be shared with the Divisions so that staff and supervisors can more effectively use the information for performance reviews and planning.
