Tip of the Week Guidelines

Audience: Tips should be aimed at a broad audience (e.g. not faculty or staff specific).
Content: Tips should provide useful information about library services.
Length: Tips (including spaces) should not exceed 70 characters (not counting the "more tips" link).

The following examples do NOT fit the guidelines for tips of the week:

Submit your research to DRUM.
[Not right because it is only relevant to faculty.]

Have a research paper to write? Start early.
[Not right because it is not a tip about library services.]

See Tips page for examples that do fit the guidelines.

Submission procedures

Send suggested tips to infolit-team@umd.edu. Anyone may submit tips at any time via e-mail, but there will be a formal call for tips to UM Libraries' staff three times a year: Fall, Spring, Summer.

The Information Literacy Team (ILT) will evaluate content of submitted tips and ensure that they meet the guidelines established by the Web Administration Committee (WAC).
