LibGuides

LibGuides is a system for publishing information and creating social networks centered around the library resources. Librarians create Guides (we use the word loosely - it can be any content, on any topic, for any purpose) and then publish them online. The Guides contain documents, links, podcasts, rss feeds, videos, etc. Users can participate in interactive polls and rate the links and resources.

BIZ Wiki (Ohio Univeristy)

The purpose of this Wiki is to experiment with an alternative form of delivery of library information. Traditionally, recommended library resources are listed in subject guides or pathfinders. This wiki might be a good alternative to the tradtional research guide format, and could perhaps compliment the Business Blog quite nicely. This wiki was created by Chad Boeninger, Reference & Instruction Librarian at Ohio University Libraries.

Wikis in Action: A Wiki as a Research Guide Powerpoint

This powerpoint presentation was presented at Computers in Libraries 2006 Conference. Chad Boeninger, librarian at Ohio University Libraries, presents the process of creating a wiki, challenges, usage, feedback, strengths, and future of the wiki. He focuses on the Biz Wiki, the wiki he created which can be found above.

The SourceFinder (Preston Libraries, Virginia Military Institute)

The dynamic SourceFinder was designed to replace 15 "static" online study guides developed and maintained by Preston Library staff members. Two key goals drove the development of the SourceFinder: to decrease maintenance issues for librarians who create such lists, and to allow patrons the power to create their own "customized" lists.

Examples of library guides created by librarians worldwide:

Dairy Science Research Guide - Robert E. Kennedy Library, California Polytechnic State University

Duke University Library Guides by Subject A-Z

Film Studies Research Guide - University of Waterloo Libraries
