Hourly Student Job Openings
Student Digitization Assistants
The Digitization Center in the Digital Conversion and Media Reformatting department at the University of Maryland Libraries seeks motivated individuals to work 15-20 hours/week throughout the 2015 calendar year (with the potential for continuation as funding allows) as Student Digitization Assistants. These individuals will digitally reformat materials from across the UMD Libraries.
Working in consultation with curators, librarians, and staff, and with the Digital Librarian and the Manager of Digital Conversion and Media Reformatting, these individuals will operate sophisticated digitization equipment to fulfill textual, image, and audiovisual requests, create and augment metadata records, and perform quality control on digital objects.
Experience with special collections materials such as correspondence, rare books, photographs, maps, and legacy audiovisual formats is highly desirable. Candidates who demonstrate experience with digitization techniques, understanding of cataloging and metadata standards, and comfort and familiarity with graphics software, such as Adobe Photoshop, will be given preference.
The pay rate is $10.00 per hour. This is an hourly position only. There are no health, tuition, retirement, or vacation benefits. Applicants must be enrolled at the College Park campus. First year graduate students are strongly encouraged to apply.
To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three references to Eric Cartier at email@example.com. Review of applications will begin in January.
Federal Work Study students are encouraged to apply for any job postings for which you are qualify.
