Louis Diémer was born in Paris on February 14, 1843. He was trained at the Paris Conservatoire in both piano and composition. In 1887, he became a Professor at the Conservatoire and, in 1889, presented a series of historic recitals. An accomplished performer, Diémer was also a composer and teacher.
