Claude Frank Collection

 Picture of Claude Frank, pianistClaude Frank was born in Nurenberg, Germany. He came to the U.S. in 1941 and studied at Columbia University in New York City. Frank also studied privately for nearly ten years with Artur Schnabel. He debuted with Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic in 1959 and began a touring career that covered six continents. He also has had a succesful career as an instructor, teaching at the Yale School of Music and the University of Kansas, among others. He has performed in concert with his wife, the late pianist Lilian Kallir, and with his daughter, violinist Pamela Frank. His recordings have appeared on the RCA Victor, Music & Arts, and MusicMasters labels.


IPAM'S Claude Frank collection consists of the master tapes of Frank's commercial recording of the complete Beethoven Sonatas.
