Web ServicesThis information is for UM Libraries' staff. Web Services is responsible for the UM Libraries' Web site. We provide support for the infrastructure and define the look and feel of the site. We work on redesign projects, big and small, and we create new designs as needed. Individual Web page authorship, however, is widely distributed throughout the Libraries. The Web Administration Committee (WAC) serves as a non-technical group to address Web site administrative issues. We instruct and support Libraries' staff Web authors. We answer questions and administer authors' access. We create both general and customized Web templates for authors to use in making new Web pages. We collaborate with Staff Learning and Development on Web instruction programs. We work on Web-based applications. We design, develop, and maintain applications which users access through the Web. We evaluate new technologies, and expand our services accordingly. We run usability tests. We organize, facilitate, and analyze usability testing sessions. We collaborate with colleagues from all over the UM Libraries on making the Web aspects of IT services more user-centered.
