Among the items on Porter's desk are a tile from Mark Twain's New York City townhouse (when the house was destroyed in 1954); her good luck Buddha figure, a gift of her brother Paul, ca. 1904; in silver frames, photographs of herself and her mother; and the last typewriter on which she composed (gift of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Wilkins).
