Student Poster Session Guidelines

Guidelines for Presentations

  • What is a poster session?
Poster sessions literally are a forum for the exchange of information among conference goers. They take place outside the programmed workshop sessions and are a quick visual way to communicate ideas, research and programs. Poster sessions relate to the theme of the conference and often develop from research or case studies that you have done in a course, practicum, or independent study.

A poster session for the LOEX 2006 Conference should address one (or more) of the following Conference Themes:

    • Changing Needs of Our Users: Research & Its Impact on Information Literacy
    • Working with New Technologies and Environments
    • Making Assessment Useful
    • Coping with Ethical Issues
    • Keeping Up with Change
  • Poster Presentation Format:
    • Pictures, data, graphs, diagrams and narrative text must be mounted on rigid poster board.
    • Presenters will be supplied with an easel that can accommodate a poster that is no larger than 36" x 48".
    • For two, thirty-minute periods on Friday morning, May 5, students will be available to discuss their display informally with conference attendees.
  • Submitting a Proposal
Submit your proposal to the LOEX 2006 Conference Planning Committee, via the online Student Poster Session Proposal Form by Friday, February 17, 2006. Include the following specifics:
    • Title of the project or poster
    • Institution's name
    • Names of those involved in the development of the project
    • A short (250 word) description of the project
  • Students who present Poster Sessions at the conference are invited to attend the Keynote Address by Assistant Dean Scott Walter on Friday, May 5.
