Doug Varone and Dancers will perform a program including Short Story with music by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Rise, set to John Adams's Fearful Symmetries, and Varone's newest work entitled Alchemy (set to Daniel Variations by Steve Reich.) The music for Alchemy was inspired by the biblical Book of Daniel, as well as the words of Daniel Pearl, the American Jewish reporter kidnapped and murdered by Islamic extremists in Pakistan in 2002.
